Day 4- Flight Back to Malaysia

Just realized, I have came back from Bangkok for more than a month. However, I am still blogging the topic related to Bangkok. So, I decided to finish the blog- topic related to my Bangkok's trip soonest as i can.

During the last day of our trip, we went to MBK and Central World to hunt for our favourite things. Of course, i was damn happy on the day itself, coz i bought a lot of bags from NaRaYa, in Central World. One thing needs to mention here is, NaRaYa's bag is very famous in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand due to its design and quality. All the bags are made by fine fabric.

I am eating Ramen in Central World. The Ramen there is nothing special, the taste is the same as the Ramen in Malaysia.

In Central World, there is a big departmental store- Zen. Here, you can buy a lot of things with resonable prices.

Me and my sista being driven to the airport by this taxi driver. He is talkative and friendly. He chat with me all the way from Hotel to the airport. He even offered me his CDs. He is a great fan of Elvis and Ricky Martin.

Me and Candice posting in front of the camera while waiting for the immigration procedure to be done. Due to Survanabhumi Airport is the main route for most of the flights. It is recommended to get to the airport much more earlier (3 hours prior to the flight). The chance to miss a flight is very high if reach there within 2 hours prior to the flight schedule.

There are wide range of products available in the duty free shops in the airport. Such as; comestic products, skin care prodcuts, souvenir, chocolate, handbags, alcohol, cigarette...

Bangkok, no doubt, a shopping paradise for me. I am looking forward my next trip to Bangkok.

Chinatown, Siam Paragon & Siam Center

We went to Chinatown after massage. The Chinatown district is one of the oldest areas in Bangkok. Here, you can see a lot of vehicles and people are busying walking here and there. The ambiance here reminded me of Hong Kong. Besides that, most of the Chinese here can speak Cantonese and Mandarin.

In Chinatown, there are a lot of good food. The seafood here is simply delicious and cheap. The bird nest here is selling 300 baht or 400 baht per bowl. For shark fin soup, it is around 500 baht per person.

Here is Lim Chen Xiang, 林真香, a place in which you can buy a lot of yummy junk food for your friends and colleagues. Not forget to mention, if you are running out of Thai baht, you can pay Malaysia Ringgit here, because this shop accepts Malaysia Ringgit and the exchange rate here is the best rate in which you could not find such best rate elsewhere.

After this, we went to Siam Paragon- a well known shopping complex in Bangkok. It is one of the largest shopping malls in Asia. Whereas, for Siam Center, it is next to Siam Paragon, just a walking distance.

Since the Thai guy is helpful and nice then i took a pic with him. Not only me, each of us also taken photo with this guy.

We went for a drink after tired of shopping. I have no idea what i had drank the day, but one thing for sure is the drink was delicious. Oh, ya, all the shopping malls in Bangkok will close around 9.00 or 9.30pm. Not more than 10pm, most of the shops are close. Therefore, for those who wants to shop all day long in the shopping mall, my advice is, shop for your favourite before night.

In short, i was happy on the day because i managed to get a skinny Lewis's Jeans. Hahaha. At first, someone (no idea who she was) wanted the same jeans as me and it only left one in the shop. Thanks for "someone" who took another type of jeans and i managed to get the jeans that i desired for. Also, thanks for the sales gal who helped me to look for the jeans!

Day 3- The Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Pho

Visit to Bangkok would be incomplete without visit to the Grand Palace. The kings had left the palace and moved to another palace since 20th century. As such, it is now open to the public and it opens 365 days every year. The entrance fee per person is 300 baht.

The Grand Palace was built by King Rama I in 1782. There are more than hundred buildings inside the palace. The Grand Palace is divided into two parts; external and internal. It only opens its external part to the public to visit. Since the king had moved to another palace; it is now used for Crown Ceremony or other important ceremonies. Sometimes, it served as an accommodation for the VIP who visits to Bangkok.

Those who is sleeveless or with short pants is strictly not allowed entering to the Grand Palace. Before enter to the Grand Palace, there is a building in which visitors (with slippers, short pants or sleeveless shirt) can lend a “Sarong” or cloth. Each Sarong or cloth costs 100 baht. The 100 baht as a deposit, after return the “Sarong” or cloth, they will refund the 100 baht. It is totally FOC. Emmm… I was wearing a short pants- length until knee; they also insisted me to change the “Sarong”. I have no choice but to follow the rules and show my respect to the kings.

During the day, there were some students (i guess) from elsewhere visited to the Grand Palace. There are really cuttie.

There is a Wat called "Wat Pho" behind the Grand Palace. Inside the Wat Pho, there is a well-known "Sleeping Buddha" statue there. This is the oldest and largest "Sleeping Buddha" statue in Thailand. The length is 46 meter and height is 15 meter. The eyes of the Buddha and legs consist of valuable mother of pearl.

Outside the Wat Pho. The entrance fees per person is 50 baht.

Most of the massagists in Bangkok were graduated from Wat Pho. As such, the massagists here are very skillful. Reservation is needed in order to try for the "Thai Massage". The prices are slighly expensive compare to others. However, it worth to spend for any massage here.

Sirocco- Sky Bar at the State Tower

After the dinner we went to Sirocco- a famous sky bar in Bangkok. Some of you may not recognize its name -“Sirocco” but definitely most of you have received a forward email, introduced the Sky Bar.

Sirocco is located in 63th floor of the State Tower. Here, you can enjoy a martini, champagne or wine at the glassed-off bar under the stars. No doubt, here you can have a glimpse of the spectacular view in Bangkok. The view and ambiance are fantastic. For those who would like to have a dinner under the moon and stars, The Dome is the great idea. However, the price of the food is not cheap.

While I reached 63th floor, I was totally amazed with it fantastic view. There were a lot of foreigners with a glass of wine or beer holding on their hands. The view is just wonderful!!!
No doubt, me and my friends had a pleasant time there. Thanks for Ton, Ice and Chet who brought us there.

According to Ton, this building reminded Ice about Putrajaya in Malaysia. Somehow, it really remined me about Malaysia.

The drinks there are slighly expensive. A glass of beer is about 400-450baht, inclduing governement and service taxes.

There was an African lady singing Jazz during the night. Visitors can listening to the nice Jazz songs while enjoying the Mediterranean food here. Those who would like to have a visit there, remember to wear smartly because slipper and short pants are strictly not allowed.

Dinner- The Good View Restaurant

Special thanks to Ton, Ice and Chet (my colleagues, Thai nationality) who bought us for a nice dinner in the Good View Restaurant; somewhere near the riverside.

I was shocked on the day while I saw Surachet (Chet) who was waiting and drinking beer alone in the bar there coz both of us have lost contact to each other after he resigned from ExxonMobil on last Dec and I was happy that I managed to meet him on the day. And, my apology to him for waited us in the restaurant for almost two hours. I was extremely happy that I able to meet all of them during my visit in Bangkok. They were so kind and generous to bring me and my friends to have a nice dinner. Really appreciate and million thanks to Ton, Ice and Chet.

The scenery of the restaurant is fantastic with soft wind blowing to your face. And, this restaurant has a live band. While waiting for the food to be served, you can listening to the nice song, or chatting with your friends or viewing the view near the riverside. Absolutely fabulous. Heard from Ton that this restaurant is very famous in Bangkok.

This is Ton. Really appreciate his kindness to send us for dinner, Sirocco and back to the hotel. And, during my stay in Bangkok, he called me everyday and made sure that me and my friends were alright. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Thank you so much, Ton.

Me and Ice.

The food that we had during the dinner was odered by Ton. Candice had taken some of the pics of the food. However, there is no sight for some of the food, I guess hungriness had driven our attention to continue to take the pic of the food. As per Ton's recommendation, we had tried a "new dish" which was the raw prawn served with a special sauce. I found the dish was nice and it worth for a try.

The bake fish is extremely delicious.

Apprently, it's vege and I have no idea what vege is this.

Ohh, this is the prawn salad, served together with a special "thai's sauce". The taste was much better than the one that i had tried during first day visit; near the stall, somewhere around the hotel.

The Tom Yam Gung is yummy and super duber delicious.
